Increase Your Metabolism

  1. Do NOT SKIP MEALS. I know, I know, you’ve heard it before, but it’s true! When you skip meals, your body senses that food is in short supply, it will slow your metabolism to conserve energy (thus storing fat).
  2. Do Not Go More Than Four Hours Without Eating. Now, I am not saying eat a huge meal every four hours I am saying eat something like a 2 servings of protein, 2 servings of carbohydrate and a serving of fat 5-6 x a day. Nutrition by Joey will develop a personalized meal plan just for you, your metabolism and lifestyle so all you have to do is eat!
  3. Get Enough Protein In Your Diet. Most researchers agree that protein helps stabilize the secretion of insulin into your blood stream, a process that can affect metabolism. Most individuals need 0.8 grams of protein per 1 kg of body weight. Nutrition by Joey will figure this out for you in your personalized nutrition session.
  4. Get Adequate Sleep. Sleep deprivation may make you fat and not just because you?re susceptible to cases of the late-night munchies.
  5. Increase Movement In Daily Lifestyle. The more you move, the more calories you burn! You can actually make a significant addition to the number of calories you burn each day by relatively minor changes in lifestyle. Cleaning house can burn up to 100 calories.
  6. Build Muscle Mass and Do Aerobic Activity at least 3 Days A Week. Strength training builds lean muscle tissue, which burns more calories at work or at rest, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The more lean muscle mass you have, the faster your metabolism will be. Even though exercise doesn?t affect your resting metabolic rate, the extra calories you burn could add up to an addition 1-2 pounds of weight loss per month. Cool, huh?
